A DAY IN MY LIFE

Its SUMMER VACATION... and kids in the neighbourhood are having time of their lives playing in ground with no rules and restriction.
As I sit in the corner of my office.. staring at the computer and punching the keyboard I re mince those moments when I was a kid and how I used to spend my summer vacation..

Most of my Vacation were spent in the old dusty streets of TRIPILICANE ( call it as heaven!! ) with my whole maternal family!!!

Morning we used to wake at 5:00 and sleepily complete our daily chore in jiffy ( There used to be a dholak guy who used to beat drums 5 minutes before perumal alias God wakes!!! )
************************
Now let me tell you why we wake so soon...Triplicane is famous for Partha Sarathy temple..where everyday at 5:30 Vishwaroopam ( Waking the holy god! ) darshan is performed and it is considered as one of the best darshan.
*************************

So as the dholak starts.. we hurry up to temple to get the darshan..after the darshan, the elders start preparing for the day while we kids hit the bed again, for a short nap!!!!
As the day progresses we play in the bang-la ( a small play ground opposite to our place ) with utmost zeal and plentiful fun.In the after noon.. its time for indoor game.. kids gather around our grandma and start playing pallankuzhi ( its an ancient form of game which my grand ma taught ) , dhaiya katta ( similar to modern Ludo) among plenty others..
In the Evening, we kids accompanied by some elders go to beach and play games, we lay in the beach sand, building sand castles as the sun  sets in the back drop. As we return home the poor elder who accompanied us is forced to part with his money with the ice cream man as we rejoice the cream.

After completing the delicious dinner we stretch in the verandah ( small balcony ) chit chatting about our school days and the pranks played till we doze off...

As days passed on to years and our summer vacation turning to long working hours in the computer.. I get the nostalgic feeling.. Wish I could re live my good old days!!!!
